The Bucket of a Backhoe

Sewer Project, Tewksbury, MA

Tewksbury Sewer Main Crossing A Brook

TEWKSBURY SEWER MAIN CROSSING A BROOK:
This was an extremely challenging project due to the immense amount of water that needed to be pumped and controlled. There was a brook crossing that had to be completed under design build conditions working with town officials, conservation, engineers, and Deloury’s team.

The crossing was approximately 17 feet below the brook bottom and had to be constructed with minimum slope with zero tolerance of deviation. The brook’s water had to be pumped around the brook crossing 24/7 for over 3 months as the work was being completed along Rte 495, and the design, engineering, and construction was being built across the brook.

Deloury Construction pumped, controlled and discharged in excess of 75 million gallons of water while building close to one mile of cross country sewer to depths over 20 feet deep at 0.22% slope with no margin of error in order to make this a gravity sewer system.

The brook is now back to its natural conditions, and the utility operates by gravity well beneath this wildlife corridor.

Northborough Project

NORTHBOROUGH PROJECT

Deloury Construction Company is over 75% complete on its contract to construct the site infrastructure on the twenty-one-acre parcel for A. Duie Pyle’s new regional distribution center. Deloury broke ground in January and is fast-tracked to complete its work by mid-fall. The technical challenge to this project was to excavate, move, and place on-site over 150,000 cubic yards of glacial till contending with winter conditions, heavy spring rains, & an unseasonably wet summer, all while keeping the project on schedule, meeting the demands of soils engineers, fulfilling conservation requirements, and satisfying the high expectations of the developer and future occupant.

The movement of over 6,000 truckloads of glacial till (fill) has had to strategically take place while preparing the building pad so construction of the building could simultaneously take place. Some of the raw materials installed for this site are approximately as follows:

  • 3+ miles of utilities
  • 500 vertical feet of structures (70 castings)
  • over 50,000 tons of gravel and stone
  • over 12,500 tons of pavement
  • 3 constructed drainage ponds
  • 2 engineered retaining walls

Deloury has maintained the highest degree of quality in its workmanship while working in the most adverse conditions adding to its portfolio another project where their trademark turnkey approach to design build site development is the advantage Deloury gives to its clients.
